Friday Faves

Friday Faves
This week's Friday Faves are incredibly random but hopefully enjoyable nontheless

Sometimes the best things occur when not planned
Enjoy!

Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion
This product was marketed and released last year, and I didn't pay much attention to it. How can something act as a moisturiser inside the shower? I'm glad you asked!
The lotions ingredients are activated by water and immediately absorb into the skin. You can use your regular soap or body wash, and follow with the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion. Rinse off and then step out and dry off. It legitimately feels like you've just applied moisturising lotion and remains like this for the whole day

Lorna Jane - Nourish
The Pre-Order release of Lorna Jane's first cookbook "Nourish".
Very eager to check this one out! Making Dinner's are my downfall, and it's probably time I expanded my creativity from chicken and salad.

Baies Candle by Diptyque
Included in the reasons why I love winter, is that there's more of an excuse to burn awesome smelling candles in this cold weather. One of my favourites and worth the money, is Baies by Diptyque. This baby was lit over the long weekend, where it burned evenly and smelt amazingly of roses and blackcurrents for over 4 hours.

CoYo Yoghurt
A yummy alternative from the dairy yoghurts around, CoYo is made from the creamy milk of the coconut with plant fed probiotic cultures. Available with Mango, Passionfruit, Mixed Berries, or my favourite - Plain ol' Coconut. Tastes amazing with fresh berries of your own and cinnamon.

Old School Songs
If you can remember this one, and better yet still willingly dance to it, then we can be friends. So many things wrong with this song, yet so many things right.
Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl
Not your thing? Enjoy the abs shot anyway

Friday Faves

Hmmm how to follow last week's Friday Faves that was all sunshine, sunscreen and cocktails?
Short but sweet, Friday Faves this week have the theme of thankfulness

Speaking of thankfulness, Mother's Day is this Sunday 11th April in Australia. Share with your mum the things she does that you're thankful for
xxx

Thankful for cold mornings that elicit warm cups of tea, that feels like a hug from the inside

Thankful for the bootcamp girls, who make the dark, outside night sessions motivating and hilarious, and just that little bit harder to skip out on a session

Thankful for the cooler weather, that gives me the excuse to burn candles at night. Romantic setting for one!

Thankful for this little muffin, who makes you feel loved

Google Images

Thankful for Netball season. Glued to the TV on Sunday afternoons. The perfect weekend wind-down. What will my sister and I do once it's over?

Friday Faves ~ Bali Edition

Welcome back to Friday Faves!
In light of my recent holiday to Bali, this week's faves are all Bali based
Enjoy!

Potato Head Beach Resort
Located on Seminyak Beach, expect to pay Australian prices, but then agree that it's well worth it once you sample the hearty cocktail menu.
Chilled out tunes by a resident DJ, whilst holidayers float in the pool or at the swim up bar and watch the sunset. Couldn't go past a Pina Colada really...

Red Carpet Champagne Bar Fun
We walked past this place every night on our way back to the Villa, joking about how loud and busy the place was. So naturally we gave it a try. Best. Night. Ever
Broad range of champagne to choose from, and voted as "among the favourite drinking spots and social hangouts for expats and returning visitors to Bali".
Music requests can be submitted to the DJ, which they then play the film clips for on screens all around the bar. Sunday night music trivia turns into free shots as prizes. Yep, we went on a Sunday night!
Red Carpet Glam - Bali style (so a dress and thongs, winning!), screaming your lungs out to "Horses". Patriotism at its best.  Again, Best. Night Ever
Image courtesy of the website, because let's be honest, noone wants to see me doing the Macarena.

Motel Mexicola
Run by an aussie expat, this restaurant is on my visit list for every Bali trip.
Huge premises decorated in kitschy but cool Mexican style, with awesome food and live music. A few frozen margaritas later, and it won't matter that there's no dancefloor.
Favourite dishes amongst us were: De Pollo Chicken Quesadillas, Guacamole and Corn Chips, Slow roasted pork served with salsa de habanero. Did I mention the frozen margaritas?

Beach Walks
To escape the humidity, we headed off to the beach, to do a casual but productive beach walk from Seminyak to Legian. Bypassing all the shops and vendors from the street side, we walked barefoot through the water, bikini's on, and along the beach, checking out the resorts, holidayers, and locals playing on the sand. At our destination we stopped and had our rewards - a Bintang and a Coconut, because... when in Bali!
For something so leisurely, we woke up the next day with sore leg muscles. Great result!

Villa Life
Having only stayed in resorts when visiting Bali, we tried Villa accommodation this trip, as there were 6 of us girlfriends in total. This did not disappoint. No having to organise meeting areas, being poolside in your own private villa in the heart of Seminyak met all our needs. The beds were so huge, I was hardly aware of my bed buddy! Trips out on the street for meals and shopping, then back to the pool for sunbaking and swimming.
Cooking and cleaning performed at your request, music playing from a stereo, afternoon naps in your pool bean bag... Bliss!

Friday Faves

This week's Friday Faves focuses on the top five favourite tea's that I enjoy regularly. Don't get me wrong, coffee is a must, but I'm also a huge fan of tea and I have about 8 different open boxes going.
Tea can be known to boost exercise endurance, provide antioxidant support against cancers and heart attack risk, fighting free radicals, and hydrating the body.
Herbal tea is a great way of meeting your water hydration quota, without having to drink water alone.
This week's faves may not be everyone's cup of tea (see what I did there?) but put the kettle on, sit back and put your feet up and enjoy

x

T2 - Lemongrass and Ginger
Zesty and also a little bit of warming spice from the ginger, I like to drink this one if i'm not feeling great, or feel like a hot alternative to plain old water

T2 - Chocolate
Black tea with the scent and taste of chocolate. Cocoa bean chunks scattered throughout with a subtle flavour and a nutty finish. This is my equivalent of dessert when I'm trying to be good.

Mariage Freres - Vanille Des Iles
Although completely all gone for some time now, this is probably the best tea I've ever had. Given as a gift, this is a black tea with the sweet taste of vanilla mixed through. A fancy French tea that is hard to come by here.

English Tea Shop - Pomegranate Rooibos and Acai Berry
A sweet and earthy tasting tea, this blend is full of natural goodness

Higher Living - Vitality
Orange peel, green mate, all-spice and cinnamon. This one was a random Woolworths find, and the roomie and I love it! The after taste is sweet and cinnamon-y, no sweet treats required for this tea!

Friday Faves

Happy Days! We are back at Friday again already!
This week's Friday Faves are based around some tunes i've been loving and frequently visiting lately. I'm sure some are not to everyone's tastes, but blog posts and sharing is how I've come across some really good song finds over the years, so enjoy
x

Hurricane - Ms Mr
With a sound compared to Florence and the Machine and Lana Del Rey, this song has a really cool vintage sound to it. Mellow but catchy and on repeat!

Billy Joel and Jimmy Fallon - 2 Man Doo Wop Group
Not really a "song" that gets airtime, but I came across this performance of The Lion Sleeps Tonight and it's too good not to share.

Janelle Monae - Dance Apocalyptic
Super catchy, makes you want to get up and dance. Think of this as a female version of Outkasts - Hey Ya!

Iggy Azalea - Fancy
A little bit Gwen Stefani, this chick is one of the few white females who can pull off rapping and lyrical conversions with style and clarity. Can't stop playing this song

OLD SCHOOL BLAST FROM THE PAST

Queen feat David Bowie - Under Pressure
Before Vanilla Ice stole the back beat for Ice Ice Baby, these guys did the original and they did it amazing.

Friday Faves

Happy Friday!
Today's Friday Faves have more of a theme on them, these are some of the websites I frequent weekly that I find have a really great message. Be it for health and wellbeing, or fun and fashion, these are my current go-to's.
Enjoy!

Mum and Daughter Blog
Run by a dynamic mum and daughter duo, this blog comprises clear and succinct posts on clean eating, fab and easy recipes, exercise tutorials and really fun reminders on not sweating the small stuff, and how to achieve optimal results for yourself. With the "Mum" being a personal trainer with years of industry experience, there are great posts on listening to your body. With "Daughter", Nadia shares great personal experiences and life lessons, and is happy to play guinea pig to new and interesting ways on improving health and wellbeing.
A post recently went up by the lovely Nadia on how to make Raw Salted Caramel Protein Balls. Get there immediately.

Move Nourish Believe
A sister site to Lorna Jane, this site has great recipes and guest posts by the movers and shakers in the health and wellness industry. From interviews with yogi's, to everyday people like us who share how they Move, Nourish and Believe on a daily basis
Whenever I'm stuck for inspiration or motivation, I head here.

Cupcakes and Cashmere
I have been a huge fan of Emily's blog for years now, and have followed her story from the early days, through her engagement, wedding, holiday's, and the creative and subtle ways that she redecorates her living spaces. Based in California, Emily has great photography skills and creating foodie delights, more on the delicious side than the clean eating side. This girl can make a simple cookie look like the most craved for item. Emily also has a great fashion sense and will always credit where she sources her items from, and often give great tips on cheaper alternatives. Could gush about this girl all day!

The Life Creative Blog
Run by my tanned and fabulous friend Chris, this is your go-to for all things home decor and styling.  Chris has a fabulous knack of incorporating luxe and less items to make your home feel warm and inviting without having to sell a kidney to afford the process.
Chris has recently been featured on The Morning Show, and is constantly doing amazing giveaways and comps that you dare not miss out on!
Had your eye on a cushion or new rug? I can guarantee you Chris found it months ago, and can give you all the information on it, as well as where you can find cheaper alternatives.
Chris also kindly featured me on his Real Rooms segment, which you can check out here:

They All Hate Us
Starting as a humble blog between two friends, posting images that they loved, these girls from Sydney are now internet sensations for their fashion forward thinking, daily posts of clothing and shoe envy and several collaborations including makeup, candles and shop edits of the brands they love. These ladies now travel domestically and internationally to promote their brand and you'll not find them far from a fashion runway or sale

Friday Faves

Happy Friday All!

Enjoy this week's Friday Faves!

Bruno Mars

After seeing Bruno Mars in concert this week, it reminded me why I love him as a performer. He keeps his clothes on at all times, looks a little nerdy, but his voice performing live is amazing. No props or fancy graphics required, just a whole lot of singing and guitar playing. It reaffirmed my favourite Bruno Mars song to date - Gorilla

Yoga

Do you have a favourite day of the week? Mine are currently Wednesdays, as that's when I head to Yoga, switch off, relax and stretch myself out.
Alongside attending for the flexibility aspect, I'm really enjoying pushing myself through the challenging poses, and feeling the sense of accomplishment as each week I get closer to achieving those poses that I could not previously do.
Yoga brings benefits such as better sleep, relaxation, joint mobility and movement to help decrease the onset of arthritis, positions like downward dog place pressure on your arms to hold your body weight, which in turn assist your bone strength to prevent osteoperosis. Yoga's ability to lower the level of cortisol (stress hormone) is also a no brainer.
For those that think that yoga belongs to the mung bean hippies, the above should be enough to make you think again.

Containing Olive leave, echinacea and andrographis, this is a more natural solution to the over the counter cold and flu tablets that you can take.

Friday Faves

Happy days, it's Friday again already!

Here are this week's Friday Faves!

Nike Kicks

I've been torn between getting a wedge shoe for some time. Originally my heart has been set on the Isabel Marant Beckett's, but my budget just couldn't justify it...ever.
So I came across these way more affordable Nike's and I absolutely love them! Teamed with a pair of leggings with leather panels, and a slouchy striped long sleeved tee or white oversized button up - these will be my Winter go-t0

Game of Thrones

Best find of the week by a friend! Being a huge Game of Thrones fan, I need one or possibly more of these awesome figurines in my life to up my nerd status. Top picks - Daenerys and Jon Snow. Ohhh Jon Snow...

Books

The Best Selfie in the World

In case you've been living under a rock this week, can we take a moment to appreciate the best selfie in the world right now.
The selfie that crashed Twitter, taken by Ellen Degeneres at the Oscar's earlier this week has clocked more than 2.4million re-tweets and is the most re-tweeted tweet of all time (say that 3 times really fast).
The previous most re-tweeted record holder, was from President Obama, hugging his wife with the caption "Four more years" after his second inaguration into office. That made the record books back then at 780,000 re-tweets.

New Things

Not sure what I was thinking, but this week I gave Cross Fit a go. Probably not the brightest idea to go with a very fit and toned friend, but if left to my own devices I probably wouldn't have turned up.
Two back to back lunch time sessions, and today I am finally walking like a normal human.
Not yet ready to compete in the Olympics, but a successful attempt because I went back after Day 1, worked up a sweat, and didn't pop any ribs. Winning!

Thank you fit friend for giving me the "step outside your comfort zone" guilt trip :)

The first image is what I attempted to do on Day 2. Middle image was the closest I could get, but for a newbie I was happy with that.

Might just stick to easier self-challenges  though I think...

Lorna Jane - March Collection

If I could buy something from Lorna Jane on a weekly basis, I would. I have a few justifications as to why I need this new top in my life, but quite simply its neon and you really can't pass that up!

Friday Faves

This weeks Friday Faves!
Happy Friday all!

1. Have you heard of David Thorne? He's the guy behind "that spider email" that went viral, the one where he draws a picture of a spider as payment.

Google Images

I've spent all week reading other hilarious extracts from his website, and this one is one of my favourites. You probably can relate, if you work with or know of, someone that is so particular about their belongings, and so easy to wind up. Oh wait... I think I'm that person too.

An extract:

Good morning Simon,
No, I have decided not to do time-sheets anymore. I'm not a robot.I actually missed you while you were away. To counter this, I placed a plank of wood in your chair and wrote ‘Simon’ on it. He said I could use your stuff. Regards, David.

2. Tv Series - The Returned (Les Revenants)

In a small mountain town, dead people reappear, apparently alive and normal: road accident victim teenager Camille, suicidal bridegroom Simon, a small boy named "Victor", and Serge, a serial killer. They try to resume their lives as strange phenomena occur; amongst recurring power outages, the water level of the reservoir mysteriously lowers, revealing the presence of dead animals and a church steeple, and strange marks appear on the bodies of the living and the dead.
This show was so popular that the US are making their own version

* This series is in French, with English subtitles

3. Sweet Stationary

I love cute and fancy stationary, but this one nails it for two reasons... hot pink and mean girls.
Sayings such as "That's so Fetch, Grool, I Know Right, You're Like Really Pretty", and my favourite - "You Go Glen Coco"

4. Frozen Dough Co Cookies

Run by some local Northern Beaches ladies, these babies come already pre-made, home-made and frozen, for you to pop into the oven and bake at your convenience.
Mouth watering flavour combo's like
- Salted Oatmeal and White Chocolate (my favourite)
- Cocoa, Raspberry and Coconut
- Chocolate, Almonds, Pecan and Whiskey

You can find them and their sweet smelling stall on Friday's at Warriewood Growers Markets, and Saturdays at Bondi Farmers Markets

Friday Faves

Introducing a new series every Friday which I have cleverly titled... Friday Faves!
A list of some of my favourite things I've come across during the week.

PANDORA
Have you heard of this app? Best idea ever.
Pandora Internet Radio is a music streaming and automated music recommendation service. Working alongside your Wifi it streams music "radio" that you have selected. By artist selection or similar genre's.
I feel it's like the audio version of Facebook stalking, you start somewhere and just never
know where you will end up!

READ OF THE WEEK
In the Blood by Lisa Unger
Lana Granger lives a life of lies. She has told so many lies about where she comes from and who she is that the truth is like a cloudy nightmare she can’t quite recall. Lana will do anything to hide the truth, but it might not be enough to keep her ominous secrets buried: someone else knows about Lana’s lies. And he’s dying to tell.
The twist will keep you guessing until the end!

Google Images

SHAKE YO' ASS
If, like me, you're that person out at night, that hears a song and yells "OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!" ... to every song, then keep reading. If you like RnB, the mixing genius of Girl Talk and something to bust a move to, you need to check out the Soundcloud account of the incredibly talented DJ Tubz. Super long mixes that help the day pass, with so many songs that are blasts from the past, or reminders of how much you LOVE THIS SONG!
Ch-ch-ch-check it out:

DESK YOGA
For the all-day desk workers, some simple yoga steps courtesy of the Move Nourish Believe website, you can do at your desk to help alleviate back pain and stiff joints. Note to self - probably don't do #5 on the days I wear dresses.
Always remember to take the time to get up and walk around, get the blood flowing, refill your water bottle.
Obviously we can't all wear lycra and runners to work though. But damn wouldn't that be nice. Can you downward dog in Prada?

Move Nourish Believe Website

INSPIRATION
I've been all about getting the inspiration back this week, this one's a short and simple one. An image of what I find an inspiring, fresh workspace. A reminder to de-clutter your surroundings to help the productivity and creativity have room to flow. Or in some people's cases - less obstacles to spill your coffee on.
